Commercial Experience
I have advised SME business owners for over 15 years as a Corporate Finance Accountant, formerly with regional, boutique and international firms. I utilise both buy-side and sell-side insight and experience to support business owners and senior management teams in achieving their short, medium and ultimately long term goals for both their business and personally. Through this support, I am able to interrogate the business’ operations and ask the appropriate challenging questions to help these business owners achieve their aims and objectives.
The type of work that I have undertaken to support business owners, across a broad range of sectors, includes:
- Company Valuations.
- Reviews of business strategy and performance monitoring (including financial and key performance indicators) and assisting with restructuring operations and controls to improve performance and cash flows.
- Appraising and assessing strategic goals and growth opportunities.
- Preparing a business for sale and to maximise exit values.
- Aiding and focussing down specific acquisition criteria.
- Identifying, negotiating, project managing and ultimately executing on both buy-side and sell-side corporate acquisitions.
- Preparing, marketing and securing new investment / funding to deliver growth plans or shareholder restructuring.
- Advising business owners and management teams on the sales process (be that MBO’s, trade sales or private equity transactions), from defining key objectives to identifying the relevant buyer pool, negotiating price and supporting on legal agreements through to completion.
Through my years of experience, I understand the challenges faced by business leaders and their stakeholders at both Board level and beyond.
